BANJOTHEBOXER
I have just gotten an 8 week old Boy Boxer, and we are trying to toilet train him, I take him out everytime he wakes from sleep, whenever i see him sniffing and a little while after i see him have a drink. Its been 2 days and there has been no improvment at all, i take him out and say "go toilet" everytime. He will whinge and sniff around the floor so i take him outside and say "go toilet" and he will sook and whinge at the door, then go off and play i cant leave him on his own he cries so i stay outside with him, it can be 1/2 hr and he still wont go until i let him inside I dont know how to do this right. Any suggestions please? and how long will it take before i will see improvement?

Any suggestions please? and how long will it take before i will see improvement? Hi there Banjotheboxer, congrats on your new puppy, but sorry to say toilet training si not easy but will be great. every dog is different, i have 2, one was trained by 6mths and the other is 4mths and not going as good. but what i did with the first puppy was take him out every 30mins and wait then give him dog choc and say wee wees, when he went (use whatever you want). the second pup is an outside dog because she is very large so i don't do the same and it does seem to be taking longer. so best of luck with it Sabertooth
KitKat
It will take more then two days...remember he is a baby! I generally suggest to people the following - every two hours take him outside to toilet, when he wakes from sleep/nap take him outside to toilet, when he's finished playing take him outside to toilet, when he's had a drink take him outside to toilet, when he's had some food take him outside to toilet etc etc as well as the every two hours. Be boring when you are outside waiting for him to toilet, but once he is toileting etc tell him what a good boy he is and use your toilet command eg "toilet, good toilet, good boy, good toilet" etc. It's what i did with my boys and they will pee on command but won't poo anywhere except at home But first of all...he is just a baby, he's still learning to know when he needs to go to the toilet himself, let alone where to go or how to get your attention. Be paitent and don't rouse on him for any mistakes he makes -at this point his toileting mistakes are your mistakes. My boys were house trained and sleeping through the night in two weeks, but much depends on the pup and what he learnt when he was with his mum and sibs. BANJOTHEBOXER
NOOO i dont go mad on him when he wees or poos inside i just show it to him and say NO GO TOILET OUTSIDE and go outside with him, when i see him sniffing or just wakes up i say OUTSIDE and he will follow me then when we get out i say GO TOILET the few times he has i praised him but i think i may give the treats a go see if it helps get him going He is a clever boy , he already knows his name when called and when i say BED he goes to bed. My husband has him sitting 90 % if the time he commands and shakes too, but the shaking i think is just instinct  We had a good night last night, he went wee outside at 1130pm before we went to bed and he slept solid until 7am, when i got up i took him outside and he went wee again. Soo i guess we are on the right track to have a night with out any accidents. He sleeps on the end of my bed
SoL
He's 8 wks old - give him a chance (I'd also get him off your bed too!). If you persevere, he will learn.
Dogsfevr
Like others have said be patient & consistent . If you feel after 1/2 nothing is happening walk inside & then go straight again to break the pattern. I have found with my big dogs they are very quick to learn & if they are looking like doing nothing i will get them excited & then go straight into the toilets routine. The key is to stick to what you want & use the same words. Pup feels toilet is inside because thats its normal routine at present,go outside /come inside toilet so just be quicker
sabertooth
Make sure you don't say your toilet word until he is doing his wee so he will link the two together and then praise him heaps and give him a treat if you like.
Cockerlover
Cant add any more than has already been sais ! but it is a circle of eat, wee ,sleep, wee, play, wee.with huge rewards after *act *is performed. It does take time though !!!!bear with it ,he will get the message eventually ,hes only a baby .
Christina
He's 8 wks old - give him a chance (I'd also get him off your bed too!). If you persevere, he will learn. In 2 days he has hardly had chance to adjust to anything & he is only a baby. You are doing it right so have patience, once he understands what you want he will do it. If you are happy having him on your bed that is fine. Your dog, your choice. I have never had any problems at all with dogs that sleep on the bed although some believe its wrong or don't like it. blacklabrador
It's okay to say NOOOO when you catch him in the act of peeing in the wrong place - then you take him out and try to get him to finish the pee outside. If you find the puddle there's no point saying anything. Any time he does pee you have to act like he's just done the most WONDERFUL thing! Lots of praise and pats and ear rubs. My puppy does his pee and then comes right on over for his praise when he's done. He's 13 weeks so we're half way there. He won't ask to go outside but he does seem to be waiting until we get outside.. just as long as it's not too long otherwise we have an accident. Luke W
Take him outside on a lead - don't give him a chance to play, let him sniff in a 6 foot circle around you.
