BlenheimBoy
Thanks for everyones input. I've been meaning to make a list of vet clinics and contact numbers to carry around in the car with us - Just in case. I've often wondered who we'd contact if we got into a situation when away from home with our little guys. I could just tear a page from the phone book I guess, but the recommendations here are really great!
westiemum
Hey, haven't we got some great vets all over Adelaide!! North, South, East, west and the Hills for Jules. Great to hear!! Leema interesting your comments on Southern Animal Hospital on South Road at Morphettvale are intersting. I too certainly would use them in emergencies if I lived down that way - I thought they were good through vets when my Mum's old cat got taken there by the RSPCA (when he was boarding there) - but they charged like wounded bulls - that one really hurt!! Cheers, Westiemum
Weimlover
My family have been using Colonel Light Vet clinic as well for over 20 years and still love them, they are fantastic My Fav vet there is defiantly Dr Cole (Only vet Bailey loves), but all of the others are great as well I was also really happy with how they treated Bailey at the Southern Animal Hospital in the couple of emergencies I have had with Bailey, they were really friendly and lovely to Bailey. I wouldn't use them for a regular vet though as they are a bit to exy IMO
Daisys Mum
Way way way too far for you Jules But in case anyone else is interested I would always highly recommend Dr Chris Girling at Noah's Crossing out at Lewiston. He knows his stuff inside-out, ESPECIALLY when it comes to large and giant breed dogs A very caring and considerate man who always goes the extra mile for you. I'm very happy with him. I used to go to that vet, but the travelling was too far  But a fantastic vet

Aubrey
We have left the Norwood vet and are now using Colonel Light Gardens vet... in fact Aubrey is going there on Thursday for her desexing. I've also heard great things about Dr Cole there.

Guess which vet was at the "Bark in the Park" doggy day today here in Adelaide, yep that's right, Dr Girling Sorry, I just have to promote him again :D Anyone who gives up their spare time to go to such an event to give out FREE advice and FREE health checks is an ok bloke in my book
Leema
I have only had one person that I've talked to about Aberfoyle Park, and they were really enthusiastic about that vet. (I work at boarding kennels and if it's a new clinic to me, I ask "What are they like?" or will try to have a chat about popular one - the Colonel Lights Gardens one has been very highly recommended.) As for Southern Animal Hospital being pricey - well, when I was ringing around for costs for desexing, theirs were right up there! I have only used them for emergencies (or worried mum syndrome) so don't know how their other consults go for pricing. I also have really liked some vets there, but were a bit neh about others. (I adore Mary!!) Hallet Cove vet was the cheapest I could find up my way for desexing. There are a few vets I -DON'T- recommend... But obviously can't say such here! Only one of them has been mentioned so far.
Mjosa
Tokkie I am glad that I have been of some help to you in regard to a vet close by, Woodcroft is only about ten minutes by car from Aberfoyle Park, you will find them very caring. I totally agree with those that have praised Chris Girling at Lewiston, I know him well as a repro vet just the best in Australia, he has collected fom my boys and did all paper work to send the frozen semen to the UK, with much success, from the first litter born over there three, two bitches and a dog, bitches were placed 1st and 2nd at Crufts last year and the boy 3rd. I will be going out there early next year, hopefully, for a bitch that I bred to be inseminated with frozen semen that I have imported from the UK, his success rate I believe is very high. So fingers crossed all goes well. Chris is just the best.

Hi there Mjosa, I recall, from mum doing the breeders directory for the national that Chris Gurlings success rate for 2007 was 97% He certainly knows what he is doing, thats for sure
tashnchief
Another plug for Dr Chris Girling. He did a surgical AI in August on my Dogue De Bordeaux bitch, ( used his and his wife's stud dog). We used frozen semen from his stud dog and another dog. Result - A genetically split litter to a maiden bitch! 6 pups to one dog and 4 to the other, that's pretty impressive if you ask me and without Chris' knowledge it would never been made a reality. Probably the finest repo specialist in the country ... and nice people too
