I have a whole pile ofreally old slides that I found when we cleaned out my grandfather's place, and I want to scan them so I can give them to other relatives. These slides are pretty dusty & dirty from being in storage for so long...what is the best thing to use to clean them up without damaging them? Also, I have absolutely no experience of photoshop (or similar programs) - what are they actually capable of doing in terms of restoring old photos once I have scanned then. Can the colours be brightened etc? In the example attached, the chinese table in the corner should actually be quite red looking, not as brown as it looks in the picture. chezzyr Posted December 8, 2008 Share Posted December 8, 2008 You would really need a photo emulsion cleaner such as a Pec product (seems Pec-12 is the one) to GENTLY clean the slides (not scrub!)
