Ashanali
How much do you want to spend? My list in increasing price: Canon 1000D Canon 450D Canon 40D Canon 50D Canon 5D Mark II Canon 1Ds Mark III I own a 40D. The 50D is currently probably the 'enthusiasts" sweet spot. The 5D MK II is next on my shopping list. The 1Ds MK III is a little pricey for me. These thoughts are echoed strongly here

Kirislin
well here's a 50D on ebay. dunno, I think I'd be wary though, new seller no feedback. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Canon-EOS-50D-Digit...A1%7C240%3A1318
chezzyr
I personally would steer clear of an auction like that, zero feedback and so on (not that all zero fbers are dodgy). Also a seller is not allowed to discourage paypal and it seems like they only want bank deposit. They could be reported. "PAYMENT: BANK DEPOSIT! if you can't do this then don't bid! SIMPLE." Kirislin
I've asked if he accepts paypal, I am not in the market to buy, just curious.
rubiton
Agreed - that is a very low price for that camera and insisting on payment via ban deposit when ebay sellers must accept paypal also doesnt exactly sit right either.
chezzyr
The other thing that struck me as odd - there is only a picture of the box. Where are the pictures of the actual camera and accessories? So at the very least one knows what is included
Kirislin
Yeah a few things about this set off alarm bells for me although it might just be a real bargain, who knows. I also decided to report him for saying bank deposit only although it was rather hard cause they only give you certain options and none really covered what he was doing. I doubt I will hear back from him before the auction ends. Edited December 14, 2008 by Kirislin
Kirislin
He hasn't replied to my question as to whether he accepts Paypal. If I thought it was safe I probably would be tempted by these, they sure a cheap but I think they're too risky.
chezzyr
I have used bank deposit to pay for items before but only when the seller had a large quantity of positive feedback. Would never risk it with an expensive item where the seller only has low or zero feedback!
Kirislin
by the lack of bids we're not the only ones who are wary.
chezzyr
I have just asked eBay about the listing and they are going to investigate it. They say it is already in violation because of the comment re payments. It is going to the Trust and Safety team for review apparently.
