MsKatie
I had to make the hardest decision today - after seeing our old staffy having lots of trouble walking I took him to the vet - half of me was expecting the worst but there was still hope... to cut along story short- he couldn't even get up from lying on the floor and - after discussion with the vet - who was wonderful - I had to make the decision to let him go - rather than watch him suffer. so - he is running free now - across the rainbow bridge - and there are many old friends there to greet him. We will miss you old boy - we had many great years together Goodbye old man Edited December 5, 2008 by Kelpiepupmum

Schatzi'sMum
Goodbye Clapton, run free on healthy legs in a youthful body at the bridge Kelpiepupmum, I know how hard this decision would have been for you, I made it myself this week. It's the hardest part of sharing our lives with dogs, but remember that you gave Clapton a great gift :)

MsKatie
Thanks everyone for your thoughts and sympathy - last night was a hard time but imagining him at Rainbow Bridge with all who have gone before makes it a bit easier to bear.
