VJB
It's so sad isn't it? Don't you just wish they could live a MUCH longer life. I can understand your pain, even though it's been 10 years for you. Sounds like you had a very special bond with eachother. It's really hard.... I miss my Jessie girl.(Border collie/kelpie/lab) and she was only recently PTS. We now have Heidi and they are so different.... if fact, I wouldn't be having my special bond with Heidi if it wasn't for my old girl Jessie. I will always believe that we had a connection..... it's very real, and sometimes others don't understand. It sure feels very "empty" not having her around, like somethings missing...... even though I'm kept well and truly busy with Heidi-ho. You must have some wonderful memories. cavNrott
I too wonder if and when it begins to ease. It's early days yet for me I guess. 11 weeks but the pain is very raw. I miss my girl so much. Oh, should this be in the RB thread. I'm sure Troy will move it if it should be somewhere else.
AWDRI
I feel your pain. I lost my old boy Sparky 6 1/2 years ago and mourn him to this day. My pain has lessened over time but I think it has been helped by our ACD Chip coming along and having so many of Sparky's habits and quirks. Sparky was with me 16 1/2 yrs and he was my soul dog before I even knew what one was. I cried for years after losing Sparky and his ashes sit on my bedside chest of drawers with his photo and his collar. Every night I continue our bedtime ritual and put my lip balm on and kiss my fingers and place them ever so gently on the box containing his ashes. So, I say, yes, it does ease over time but if you have not yet found another to fill that hole in your heart you will grieve until you do.
The Spotted Devil
*hugs* On the 29th of November it was the fifth anniversary of the passing of my beloved 17 year old ACD, Dolly and the 30th of November marked the birthday of my dearly departed 18 year old Burmese, Willow. I was struck by how much I still miss them and how much it still hurts My life is so full and my animal family is just perfect. We actually toast Willow, Dolly, Bronte, Lilly and Ziggy (plus any fosters!) every single night, which is a lovely way of remembering them. I still can't look at the video footage of Dolly that my Mum took - it remains gift wrapped. One day perhaps
3shepherds
Two years come next March and I still miss Stryker. The pain does ease and you gradually remember them with a smile instead of tears. it will get better
indigirl
Almost 6yrs since i lost my heart dog Truck, I think of her all the time still and wish she was here. In a way though the actual goodbye was so easy as she was old and riddled with cancer and she was ready to go. In many ways I had already come to terms with her death before she actually died as I knew she was on borrowed time for 6 month before her death. Losing Ripley so young and so suddenly has been devastating. I dont know that I will ever really come to terms with his loss fully. I will always miss my Truck dog but at least she had 13 yrs with me.. poor little Rippa never even made it to 4 months

julesluvscavs
Hi Darien I Totally understand how you and everyone else feels.. I lost my Jenna a few years ago on Feb 14. Valentine's Day (I hate that day now!) We have a big framed pic of her on our loungeroom wall, and some tribute stuff of hers on display.. her very worn collar and her urn .. I often call Joey, Jenna.. They stay in your heart forever .. Jenna used to love empty toilet rolls, when i was sitting on the loo, and I always go to give them to our two when they come in with me, but they are never interested Same with empty coke bottles, Jenna used to love playing with them... but Joey and Renae couldn't care less about them too big for their mouths anyway ! hehe Edited December 4, 2008 by JulesLuvsCavs
