kelpiechick
For those who have purchased it : What did you enter in the zipcode area? I have tried to buy it and it won't accept my postcode, keeps saying it is incorrent but it is marked a field that has to be filled out. Have already indicated that I am outside US/Canada and put Australia in country, but no luck.
J...
I put a zero in front of my post code to get it through. Edited November 27, 2008 by Jess.
kelpiechick
I should have thought of that - duh ! Apparently the problem is supposed to be fixed now , plus I emailed Susan and she suggested leaving a space before entering the code so hopefully this time it will work. Fingers Crossed ! kelpiechick
At first glance it looks great Now I just need a new puppy so I can begin foundation training all over again, working up to the weaves once he/she is old enough - good excuse to add another one I think ! J...
I agree it does look really good. We'll be working through quite a lot of it, especially the more difficult entries and the proofing work. There are so many different types of weave poles out there in the trial ring that if I can proof for her favourite squeaky toy or food treat flying past her head then those lovely out of specification weave poles should be a piece of cake. helen
For those that have purchased this does she cover different weaving methods or concentrate on one in particular?
kelpiechick
For those that have purchased this does she cover different weaving methods or concentrate on one in particular? The resource is written as a companion to the 2X2 method - but there are lots of great things in there to use with dogs trained in any method really - for example, ideas on record keeping and weave drills to set up for proofing. helen
OK I have to ask, what is the 2 X 2 method?
bordacollies4me
well i have trained 2 dogs with the 2x2 method... and the ebook, filled in some gaps as well as some more ideas... my last dog was doing 12 poles in 8 days... in short... the 2x2 method is teaching dogs to do 2 poles and then adding 2 poles.... but they are done with a channel and then this is closed up to form 4 straight , then you keep adding 2 poles...as well as some awesome weave entry stuff... my youngest dog is 15mths old i will be starting his weave training next month... after i watch the DVD
Levi
I am new to the 2x2 method but really like what I have read so far. Is the ebook a stand alone in learning the 2x2 method or is the DVD or some of Susan's earlier work also a requirement?
bordacollies4me
I am new to the 2x2 method but really like what I have read so far. Is the ebook a stand alone in learning the 2x2 method or is the DVD or some of Susan's earlier work also a requirement? the ebook from what i have been told... is extra info that Susan wanted to share... it will not be offered again once the dvd is out.. it is not stand alone material for teaching the 2x2... the dvd i would imagine would have far more info for us than the ebook, the only thing that is doubled up is the workbook... it is such an easy and fun way to teach the weave poles... Levi
Thanks for that . Do you think I would miss out on much info if I just wait for the DVD or is the ebook well worth purchasing? Sorry for all the questions, I just really have to watch the pennies. However if the ebook is full of really useful extra info then I would still like to purchase that, I just don't want to spend money unneccessarily Do you know if the DVD is a stand alone method for teaching 2x2 weaving or will I still need to purchase some of her earlier work? It does look like a great way to teach weave poles. At dog club I was taught to lure her but it just makes her follow my hand and miss a weave if I am not right there so I stopped teaching weaving until I can find a better way to do it. I don't want to stuff up weave training and I really like Susan's method. I just need to make sure that I get all the info I need in the most economical way . Kavik
What makes the 2 x 2 method better than say the channel method?
bordacollies4me
What makes the 2 x 2 method better than say the channel method? nothing i suppose... the 2x2 is sort of a channel method, however you start with 2 poles, then add two more poles forming a channel, then close the gaps until poles are straight, shaping the dog to do all this, working on entries around the arc, when poles are straight and dog is driving through from all entries, you then add another 2, opening the gap to make it easy for the dog, close the gap on these 2, maintaining working the arc and drive, then you just keep adding 2 until you reach 12... of course adding distractions along the way... it is a quite simple and easy method to train... i think it is better as the dog learns quicker how to bend...
