Will probally have to look at s/h lenses as i cant afford top dollar for a new one, thanks, james
indigirl
Im in the same boat as you I think i will jsut buy some UV filters for now to protect the lens. With buying a good zoom lens it really depends how much $$ you want to spend. I have the same camera as you and i got a 55 - 250mm IS lens as a kit lens. For a kit lens it seems pretty good to me! Also bought the 'plastic fantastic' 50mm prime lens for $125, cant really go wrong at that price!
DieselDog
yeah was looking at either getting a 70-300mm is lense s/h or saving up and looking at a 70-200mm lense sh, but the is versions start to get a bit $$$
DeltaCharlie
I use filters to protect the lens but I don't take photos through them. The cheap filters are great at ruining photos Ive found. If you have the money to buy an expensive filter then go for it.
