I Have a work mate who has a Border Collie she would like to get clipped to keep her cool during the hotter months of summer. The dog has never been clipped before and the owner is naturally a nervous person.

Can anyone reccomend a groomer in the Blacktown area it doesnt matter if its mobile or a shop. She would like someone who will accept her staying with the dog during the clip..

Thanks In Advance

Jo

Hi Jo,

Without intending to be critical or the like. But clipping a BC is not ideal for a number of reasons,

Sun exposure, the hair can grow back thicker and harder making the dog even hotter and the coat harder to manage.

The overall best option is to keep the dog brushed out as much as possible but not stripping the coat away and knot / matt free, this will allow the air to flow through the coat.

Just my 2 cents worth.

She will find very few who will let her stay. The dog would have to have a big issue to allow this happen as it isnt in the dogs interest to have the owner standing around & can make the exoerience more stressful & as most salons groom other dogs at the same time with multi groomers its also a safety distraction for them.

We wont allow people to stay .

Thanks for your comments.

I agree its probably not the best idea to clip a BC.

I also dont think its a good idea for her to stay with the dog as she is a very panicy nervous lady who is always throwing her hands around and acting loopy at work over nothing..

Her concern is that if the dog hates clippers as it barks every time she clips her husbands hair so she thinks it will panic and also they groomer may not be kind to the dog..

I think dogs are like kids - better without their parents.

I can wash my dogs without any problems

The dog washer can was my dogs without problems

But

If I stay with the dog washer my dog is really naughty and tries to jump out of the tank.
