Anna H
Hi guys.... Can anyone shed some light on what could be going on here? He is in otherwise excellent health, doesn't seem itchy (we use Aloveen here anyway), no sign of fleas etc. Edited November 20, 2008 by ChelseasMum
Guest june.andnovas
Rubbing from a collar maybe?
Anna H
I did think of that, but his collar is very loose so really doesn't touch that area of his neck... he only wears a breakaway collar when I am out from the house, so only about 8 hours a day normally. poodlefan
His coat looks very dry and harsh. My first reaction would be possible food allergies or thyroid issues. Edited November 17, 2008 by poodlefan
Anna H
oh, sorry.. should've mentioned... he was wet when I took that picture!
poodlefan
oh, sorry.. should've mentioned... he was wet when I took that picture! I got that but coat still looks longer and 'fluffier' than I'd expect. Have you posted in the GSP thread.. they may be able to help.
Anna H
I"ve just put a linky in the GSP thread to here. He does have a slightly longer than normal coat on all his body bar the neck area, which still feels like puppy fur. Whilst he is not as shiny as my solid liver girl - his coat does have shine, and no more or less coarse than Chelsea's (my other GSP) The only thing I have noticed tho is that I get a mild skin allergy to his fur, whereas with Chelsea I'm fine. Aphra
Is he dropping his coat? When my male Neo dropped his coat this year all the old hair just fell out and he had big bald spots. It took a little while but his coat has come back, and it's gorgeous, the best its been in a while (I put it down to changing supplements from fish oil to flaxseed oil, but its just a guess). Otherwise does he rub his throat on something when he's itchy?
