I've tried the Harmony Harness and found it quite good if you have the lead attached to the ring at the front of the harness

ETA-I just had a look at some of those harness's,that last one I walk my dog looks a contraption and a half

I tried a gentle leader with my lab who I got at 12 months as a rescue. She was prone to lunging towards other dogs/ people (just to say hello not attack) and the gentle leader was snapping her head sideways when she did this so I stopped using it.

So I got a sporn pack leader head collar and it worked a treat stopping the lunging. A couple of months later I was able to resume training on a flat colar.

When I went to a Sports Medicine Vet's workshop 18mths ago, she mentioned that she thought (at least some of) these harnesses could cause muscle injuries, because of how they strap across and rub on the shoulders and chest, an area where there is constant muscle movement as the dog moves. I'm not sure whether she'd seen such injuries, or just thought of them as a theoretic possibility.

This looks interesting in that it's not controlling around the neck which I simply will not recommend. Thanks.

Interesting thoughts, will ensure their chiro keeps an eye on those areas if one is used.

Managing a problem means that the problem behaviour is still there.Rather than manage,I much prefer to deal with the real issue and eliminate the problem. Tony

Yes Tony and yours is a great way to deal with something. However, since I specifically asked for information on harnesses for management, surely it would be obvious that management and not elimination of the issue is what the owners of the dog have chosen to go with (for their own reasons) so your post really adds nothing to the discussion. But thanks anyway.

I have used the sporn harness and initially it gave me more control, but then for some reason my dog reacted quite badly to corrections with it and became increasingly dog aggressive. Could be several reasons why (she didnt tell me  ) but I found the harness impeded my ability to control those outbursts so I stopped using it.

I have used the Sporn on all 3 of my dogs all diffrent sizes the dogs are 1) an Over-sized GSD, 2) a Maremma, and 3) a Swedish Vallhund. All dogs have been adults when I got them and all Pulled like hell. The Sporn fixed the problem in 3-4 weeks now all 3 dogs can be walked on a Martingale or a flat collar with no pulling in fact even the Maremma heels  when told to, I normally let them walk comfortably in front on a slack lead when we are just walking.

It is important the Sporn is fitted properly and adjusted for the dogs comfort or IMHO you are waisting your time and money if you are not prepared to adjust the Sporn each time you use it.
