Baby Dragon Posted November 11, 2008 Share Posted November 11, 2008 I saw the link in a post here (forget which one) http://www.ticlace.com/ It's a collar/necklace thing for your dog and they say it helps prevent ticks. Just as a back up extra to keep paralysis ticks away. But you're right, I can't find anywhere it says paralysis ticks on the website (I was sure it did) but now I'm not so sure! I have spoken at length to my vet about tick prevention, and according to him if you live in a ticky area (like I do ) it basically comes down to vigilance - check your pet for ticks every day. The fur is sooo thick it's hard to even find prickles sometimes to get out , let alone feel for ticks. What sucks is that the fur on the head/neck area is thicker than everywhere else (on my boy anyway) and I'm told to check him all over, but especially around that area and the tail area. TD has dense hair all over I spent several hours this morning washing, brushing and clipping him short (except for his poodly ear and head) partly him so we could check for ticks more easily, partly to make it cooler for him. It also happens to make brushing much easier. We haven't had him long and I'm not very good at clipping yet, but it takes weeks to get an appointment with a groomer around here. There are pics of him here http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...15&start=15 I have problems keeping the knots out of his head, I think I need to take him to a proper groomer. MiniMum Posted November 12, 2008 Share Posted November 12, 2008 What a sweet face your guy has! and he's the same colour as TD TD is nearly 11 months old and is very cuddly. You said you've been doing him for a year now. Does that mean he is about a year old? Poodles go through a coat change sometime before they are 18 months old, and during that time they can seem to matt when you just turn around! TD has allergies so I have to use special shampoo and leave in conditioner, which also helps keep the matts down. If you can get him to a groomer they should be able to help with the knots.
