sooty.pepper
Hey all, By no means am I dissing my dog, he's the sweetest, most intelligent pup I've met. He's such a delight and we're so happy to have him as part of our family. However, whenever he gets excited he sends jets of pee all over us. I was told this was common in male pups but he's now 7 months old and still showers us with pee. The circumstances during which it most happens is when he's lifted, touched on the belly for any reason, has the lead put on, meets new people etc.. so it's fairly often. He's quite a submissive dog, and responds well to command. He's a Lab/Border Collie mix and even though he has the Lab's love for food he was easily trained without food rewards. He's so eager to please & just loves us to death. Has anybody experienced this progressing into adulthood? Is it something I should be concerned about in regards to continence? Thanks in advance for any information you can give.

Odin-Genie
My male puppy didn't have this issue (peeing over us). However, he used to have most of his accidents when we would get back home since he was excited. But this stopped when he was about four months old. However, someone who got her puppy at the same time as I did tells me that her dog continues to do that (now about 1 year old). If it doesn't stop within a month or so, your puppy should have a vet check.

MissAloof
I'm just learning by watching and experience, and have read they often do it with excitement + should grow out of it. My dog's female and used to "puddle" a lot when we were staying at my brother's, who has young kids and is dog sitting. Since we moved about 6 weeks ago she rarely does a puddle inside anymore (but did a big one the other night near the front door, after some fireworks went off somewhere nearby). I have noticed the excitement thing though, last week a little dog, maybe JRT, was wandering along our street. My dog saw it and they greeted each other, mine left a small puddle on the step with her excitement. Then the other day we visited brother, my dog saw the other and again, a little puddle underneath her. She's still young to me, 6 months next week. As I've always had outside dogs since I was little I just figure this is a learning process, and maybe like humans - some toilet train quickly, some don't.
