Agility Tunnel

Hi All

I'm just wondering if some one can tell me the best place to buy a training tunnel? I have called "The pet shed" (place advertised in the vca mag) but they have none and don't know when they will be getting some more in.

On the weekend in Warnambool 2 people mentioned a place in melbourne but I can't remember what it was called. I was supposed to give my email addy to a lady so she could send me the details but I forgot untill it was to late and most people had left. Arr I hate my bad short term memory

Any ideas any one???

Not sure if you want a lightweight one just for training or a 'competition standard' one like most clubs have?

If you want to spend the money on 'the real deal' - try Plasticoat in Chambers Rd, Altona North or Purple Pig in Sunshine.

They both have websites if you do a search - sorry, can't remember url off the top of my head.

Tunnels are just mine ventilation shafts, so any company that sells mining equipment may also be able to help you.

I don't know how keen you are on training but when Ginger did Agility, I did a mock -up for her until she got the hang of it. I used plastic bubble wrap between boxes/chairs ie wrapped aroound them plus some dining chairs. Sorry, it was a while ago but you get the idea. She is a 4kg dog so this may not be robust enough for a larger dog.

From memory, tunnels cost a lot!

It was enough for her to get the hang of it. At the end of the tunnel, I placed a chair (as the lid over the tunnel) and hung/attached a tea towel over it to simulate the cloth part of the tunnel so she had to push through it. This worked a treat and she never hesitated in the cloth tunnel.

There was a bit of a mess in my lounge room for a while but this did the trick - from the only one in her class too scared to go through the tunnel, she became a pro (in my eyes at least).

Initially, it seems to me that agility is only about practice, baby steps!!! (and reward, of course)

Try Terry & Teressa Lewis down Colac way. They breed and own GSDs.

Terry makes very strong and stable Agility equipment and has even made equipment that has been powdercoated for us. Spent two years out in the elements and still looks almost new and this equipment is used every week.

From memory he wasn't the cheapest but I couldn't complain about the quality.
