First Time Puppy Owner
For those of you who have had the intradermal skin testing done on their dog, could you please tell me how much it cost? Also if you have had the Heska Allercept test how much did that cost? I am going ahead with it for sure but need to be prepared money wise Also can anyone tell me more about the drug withholding period prior to the test occurring? THank you for your assistance in advance
peigirl
Nearly 2 years since I had it done but at the time the basic panel (60ish substances) and immunotherapy program cost me ~$900. I was advised the withholding period for antihistamines was preferrably 2 weeks but Raf only had a week off his antihistamines before I tested. His readings were still off the scale so I don't think there was any masking.
First Time Puppy Owner
Oh cool thank you Peigirl! I was just quoted through a specialist centre (only place I personally know that has a dermatologist so I called) $146 for consult and $400 for test and then anywhere between $250 - $500 for the injections. I wonder how much my insurance would cover *sigh* Aaahh awesome re the withholding period, it's been 3 wks since his last antihistamine.
SparkyTansy
Mine was pretty much the same cost as peigirl... the biggest expense is really the ongoing purchasing of the serum for the injections... if you decide to go ahead with them that is... be glad you have the insurance FTPO - i had to get a loan from my mum to help me pay! Ptolomy
I had ours done January 2007 and it was close to $800, but then I needed 6 weeks of antibiotics and some shampoos and antihistamines etc etc so I don't think I got a lot of change out of $1000
InspectorRex
Had a dog done in 2004 and it was around $400 for the intra-dermal skin testing Check with your Insurance Coy as some Vets will bill them direct( I know PetPlan can do this)
