Is Chopps collar smart?

 gotta laugh if he is. He is a smart dog......

If he is collar smart than he should shake paws with Rex.

Rex is collar smart, line smart, place smart, people smart, you name it.........

I dont have an answer for you, but some people say for the dog to wear it for 2 weeks before applying stim.

I havent done it and my Rex is collar smart 100%.

Divani isnt as she wasnt trained with it.

Oh, undoubtedly, I haven't checked yet, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest

I want to do it right with Trixie though as the stakes are higher. I've been putting it on her in the evenings for the last few days [since K9 threw down the gauntlet ], but I wasn't sure when to start actually training with it. It's probably in his manual, oops :vomit:

Is there a set amount of time that you should collar condition your dog for to avoid them becoming collar smart?

Collar conditioning doesn't guarantee against dogs becoming collar smart, but there is a chance.

Generally 2 weeks is what I recommend.

But once training begins I still recommend people continue with the collar conditioning in between training sessions as well (assuming you are using a RT to train with).

Who said anything about an RT?

 ..... no one. It was completely my silly assumption. Of course you can collar condition for other collar styles as well. This would include the RT spray collars as well as other more commonly used training tools.:vomit:

There is a bit on this in the manual (if your talking about the one from K9force). I had mine on my dog for a few weeks and then started teaching her some basics like sit, SAAD and recall over a three day period. After this time she wore the collar again for a week with no stim before we repeated the process.

I think I did this for a few weeks before we started full on training. I took my time with it as my goal is for her to be able to go without the collar eventualy. I think it is working, I forgot to put her collar on the other day and took her out the front of my place but she still responded the same. Shes a smart dog though Im just praying she doesnt get collar smart

I did a week and a half, then a 3 day stint without it (neck problems) and then 3 days with it, then found working levels, then another day, then did my first session. His collar goes on every day whether I intend to use it or not. I really have no desire to take him off the collar but meh.
