Tim & Tanya
Hi all, I am getting my mastiff puppy in 10 sleeps... My question is: What is a good Calcium powder that I can use in puppies food? or tablet etc. Also what type of diet do the mastiff owners out there feed their little pups? Any suggestions would be great... Thank you, Tanya Edited October 22, 2008 by Tim & Tanya
WreckitWhippet
NONE..... If you are purchasing from a reputable registered breeder, follow the diet that they advise to raise the puppy on. Feed the puppy correctly and there should be no need for supplements.
Miranda
I wouldn't recommend giving the puppy any extra calcium in the form of supplements.
Nekhbet
follow the breeders diet. If you are purchasing from a backyard breeder go get yourself some Eagle Pack Giant Breed puppy and raise it on that. Do NOT add calcium powder to your dogs diet it can be highly detrimental
Tim & Tanya
Wow they were fast replies... Thanks for that... I'll give my breeder a buzz and ask about the info they will be sending with the pup.
WreckitWhippet
Ask for the info now to be either posted to you or emailed. That way you can get a head start on all the things you will need, rather than picking up dog and care booklet at the same time. You can also read through it and raise any questions with the breeder beforehand, rather than trying to do it on the day.

stormie
As others have said - no calcium supplements! And no regular puppy food either. Large/giant breeds have specific dietary needs. You need to feed a good quality LARGE breed puppy food.
