I got a notice of an ADAA trial coming up end of Nov and am wondering if I could join up now and enter . . .

But before I decide I was wondering about the rules. Had a quick look on the ADAA page and am a bit confused by all the different classes :)

Is there a class like Jumping that doesn't have weave poles or contact equipment? Kaos can do jumps and tunnels, we are working on weaves and contacts but not there yet.

Unfortunately we have weave poles in all of our classes (jumping and agility). In jumping we don't have contact equipment but we still have jumps, tunnels and weaves.

Does it help? Let me know if you have any questions.

Elementary doesn't have weaves. I will be at that trial, it is only going to be a jumping one (elementary, starters, open, and then a game called "jumping without weaves").

Charlie will be going in the elementary and the game as he can't weave, Delta will be doing elem, starters, and the game.

Sorry Kavik, DC is right Elementary classes do not have weave poles.

Elementary - Simple course design; no weave poles, tyres, spread jumps or seesaw. Rate of travel in these events is 2 metres/sec. Dogs must be IP or RP registered.

Sorry I just always enter elementary and starters and never really payed attention to the weave poles as both of mine dogs can weave :)

Btw have you already registered with ADAA (as you will have to chose a program : international or regular). They are basically the same except at higher levels International jumps are higher but the times allowed are slightly longer.

OK with the different programs - is elementary in all? or just combined - I am a bit confused :)

If I wanted to do the elementary jumping (the one with no weaves) - what do I put?

Combined means International or Regular (this is the type of registration you have).

Now different classes are

Elementary

Starters

Intermediate

Open

Advanced

Elementary and Starters are identical for International and Regular registration, that's why you see Combined. What it means is that dogs that are registered with International will jump lower height than in the later classes that are not combined any more.

So if you want to do elementary jumping you can register with either Regular or International and participate in Combined Elementary Jumping.

Elementary and starters are both in the combined program which means that regular and international compete against each other at regular height. I enter my dogs one height above so that they are jumping a consistent height (normally they would jump 550 but regular program would be at 400, to keep the consistency I enter them in the next height up so that they jump 550).

You only really need to worry about which program they are entered in once you go higher than elementary and starters. Mine are both regular program (I didn't understand it when i first joined up for the camp last year) but I plan on changing them. You can switch between the 2 up to 3 times in their life. Regular program is good for older dogs or ones that can't really jump the full height as they get to jump one lower.

I would register Kaos in international program. Im pretty sure he would be Midi height (same as mine, would normally jump 550mm). Enter him in elementary jumping as either Midi (will have to jump 400) or Maxi (jump 550- thats what I do).

Yep, definitely Maxi LOL. Mine only squeezed into Midi by 1cm...

Join up as international, he will be jumping 550 in any combined level courses (elementary and starters). If you are really stuck register him and I will help you with the entry form at the ADAC trial. They are pretty good at accepting late entries (someone entered on the day last time). Plus, Nicola and Penny only worked it all out on Saturday night so the forms would have been received by ADAA today, which means the schedule wont even be up just yet. I imagine they will give people plenty of opportunity to get entries in.
