Sertoli Cell Tumour In Castrated Dog

Hi,

I am new to this forum, but was wondering if anyone had ever heard of Sertoli Cell Tumour in a Castrated dog before.

My 4 year old Siberian husky has just had a Sertoli Cell Tumour removed from his groin area about the size of 6 x 4 cm. The vet said that these type of tumours normally grow on testicles of entire dogs, however my boy was de-sexed about 4 years ago when he was 6 months old.

If anyone could assist me in finding out more information that would be great.

I hit google and found out that Sertoli cells are 'nurse' cells found in the testes and scrotum, and that tumours involving these cells mainly happen to dogs with undescended testes.

I wonder if that when your boy was a pup ( maybe in utero even) that he left some of these cells within the abdomin??? That is the only reason I can think of that the cells would even BE there, iykwim.

Everything that I read was very positive as rarely spreads.

Thank you, that is along the lines that I have been able to find so far too, but helps sometimes when someone else says it.
