Rip Smooth Satin Champion Pacer

I am deeply saddened to share the news that my favourite horse, champion pacer, Smooth Satin, the "Bathurst Bullet" has been laid to rest following ongoing health problems.

I just love this fabulous horse and followed his career right from the start and was fortunate to see many of his greatest runs, including the Ben Hur, Chariots of Fire, Interdominion Grand Final and Miracle Mile. Like all his followers, I almost felt that I "owned" just a tiny part of him. He was a true champion, always giving his best. He had fantastic acceleration and an amazing will to win.

Run free champ, you will be greatly missed by all your fans.

There were many champions before him, and many will come along after, but Socks will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thanks for the wonderful memories, I will miss you very much.
