Daxilly
Hi, We switched our Lab and ACD to Sentinel Spectrum over winter. (We were using Drontal, Heartguard and Advantix). Now tick season is here I need to start their tick treatment. I know that Sentinel Spectrum and Advantix both treat fleas but I think in different ways. Is it OK to mix Sentinel Spectrum with Advantix or will this be overloading their systems too much. I would prefer to stay with Sentinel Spectrum as they both swim alot and the Advatntix needs to be on 48 hours before contact with water. We filled in our dam to try and stop them from getting wet, but they still have access to the river. We live in a high risk tick area so will need to Advantix them fortnightly. Thanks. Clyde
I use both and was informed that it's fine. No two ingredients appear to be the same but if in doubt give your vet a call. I've been using both for a few months now.
Tassie
Sentinel Spectrum doesn't do ticks, so you're still going to have to get the Advantix onto them and wait the 2 days before they swim. I use Sentinel Spectrum year round on my BCs, and add Advantix fortnightly when we're going to be in tick areas. (In high tick areas I also add Proban tablets.) All this on the emailed advice of the vet practice which also sells meds online. But definitely check with your own vet. Oh, and whatever you use, the daily tick checks are essential - nothing is 100% effective.
DeltaCharlie
If you are going to be using advantix anyway, I would switch to Interceptor so you are not doubling up on the fleas and saving money too. I started using frontline for tics last summer (couldn't use advantix with a cat) and didn't want to double up so I switched to interceptor. Ive been using it almost a year now and have had no issues with it whatsoever.
ShesaLikeableBiBear
We use Sentinel Spectrum monthly and Advantix fortnightly. During high tick season we also use Preventic collars but will not be doing do this year as have a litter of one week old.
Daxilly
Thanks, I checked with our vet and she said combining will be Ok. We always do a thorough physical check ever morning and night. It's a pity that there isn't a product that is a tablet to kill ticks.
