What Do You Think Of Colouring /dying Dogs

Dogs come in such lovely colours naturally, I see no need to do that to them, personally I don't like it and would never offer to do it at my salon.

To me it is no different to those high heeled baby shoes being talking about in off topic!

I have to admit I have coloured one of my bitches. Sputnik was dressed as a spiderpug for the pooches in the park day at our local dog park and I sprayed her tail with red hairspray to make her a redback spider...

not the black part but the gold you can, but depends on the dogs coat too.i find dyex works best for dogs that aren't white. But Like our hair some coats take colour better than others.

as a groomer we wouldnt do it.many do as they charge ridiculous prices & its a money maker .

Whilst some clients may like others may loathe it & you need to weigh up the type of advertising you want from doing this.It would be a topic that could backfire business wise or draw clients that arent regular but just want there dogs dyed when they feel like it

That's the only reason I would agree with as well, otherwise it says more about the owner than the dog - you may as well go play with dress-up dolls.

And i think its a bit different to colour a dog, than to dress a baby up in clothes that turn men on.

Those before and after photos are amazing, Roxy. I dont understand people who are rude about dyed dogs. I would much rather see a dyed dog than a poor little bugger who is neglected.

I think it's silly. I dont believe it hurts the dog but I'd never do it.

unless you were to use a natural hair dye (chemical free) then that is just wrong.

the chemicals seep into the dogs skin .. same as colouring your own hair.

My dog is a husky and sheds enough white fur as it is - if he was to shed say, pink or blue fur, i don't think i could handle it!

Each to their own though - if they do it with appropriate dyes, I don't have a problem with it at all!

I offer it at my salon- we use Dyex colour for dogs. It does not harm the dog in anyway and if an owner wants to do it then why the hell should' nt they. One of mine has a pink tail at the moment- result of a slow winters day in the salon and bored groomers :rolleyes:

Personally I wouldn't dye my own hair purple/pink/orange/blue so why would I dye my dogs coat?

I think dyeing a wheaten terrier and a kerry blue terrier's coats defeats the point of having breeds where the coat colour is an integral part of the dog, so wouldn't do it. Don't care if other people do it.

I love seeing dyed dogs! It's fun and plenty of dogs just enjoy the attention

I haven't had Boo dyed, purely because I just think his colouring doesn't lend itself to making the dye job look good.
