(i) what breed is your dog - Pug

(ii) was the dog obtained as a puppy or adult - Puppy (bred her)

(iii) if obtained as an adult, did the dog have any prior training (eg., ex-show dog) - N/A

(iv) how was your dog taught the hold/retrieve? Clicker Trained. Forced hold in mouth a day or so.

(v) have you previously trained other dogs to retrieve - if you have, did you find this dog learnt faster than you previous dog? Obedience trained dogs but never to the poit they needed to retrieve anything

Took her about a week to get her to bring things back. Another 2-3 weeks for a proper retrieve and then a few weeks to teach her the difference between a retrieve for Obedience (wait for command and sit at end) v's a retrieve for Flyball (flies out to get it and spits it at my feet)

Now the Dalmatians - 6 months on and we are still working on it....

As a pup

N/A

(iv) how was your dog taught the hold/retrieve? eg: clicker training, purely positive, forced retrieve/ear pinch

Would already fetch everything i threw, hardest part was teaching the sit at the end of the exercise, used clicker training for that.

(v) have you previously trained other dogs to retrieve - if you have, did you find this dog learnt faster than you previous dog?

Yes, sorta, he would retrieve everything, i showed him what i wanted him to bring he would try his hardest to do so, but that was everything but the dumbell, clicked him once when he pawed it and thats all he used to do, getting better now! I would say they are both about the same to getting the end result, one would have trouble in an area where the other excelled
