Hello :D

Does anyone know of any herding workshops/training in South Australia that do not require ANKC registration?

I would really like to have a go at herding (and see if my boy still has the instincts) He isn't ANKC registered and isn't desexed so unable to go on the associate register.

Can you train if you are a member even if the dog is unregistered? Here in NSW at the clubs I belong to we let people train if they are club members or in one case pay a day membership. Planty of dogs aren't put on the AS or SR registry here till they are ready to trial.

I would try to find somewhere to train that understands GSD and how they work as it is different from BCs and kelpies.

Veanna - an unofficial reply from a herding committee member. At the training days we request proof of OWNERS membership for insurance purposes.

Having said that, we have not had much training this year due to the high cost involved with getting stock to SACA. If you want to PM me though I can give you numbers of a couple of ppl that do private training. Both are qute a drive though, as obviously herding is not a suburban activity.

Hi Piper, thanks for your reply. Such a shame the cost is so high. I will PM you for those numbers, thanks. Not looking into doing anything soon as so much going on but it is definitely something I want to have a go at so would be great to get into contact with some people
