Erny
Active Manuka Honey is good as a booster for the immune system. Get the good stuff from a Health Food Shop. It's pricey, but I always have a jar of it in the pantry. Lasts for ages and is yummy (for both dogs AND humans).
morgan
yep, I always have manuka honey on hand - wounds, proud flesh on horses, coughs, sore throats or just on the morning toast :p
Golden Rules
Has anyone here tried MSM? I've heard about it before, but have just started looking into it as an immune booster. Having trouble locating aussie suppliers for dogs - the human prices look rather expensive and the US pet and horse ones are fairly cheap in comparison, but then you have to add shipping. Never heard of MSM Morgan - care to elaborate?

Yes, I have my old Rottweiler on MSM and shark cartilage. She does well on it. Human products though. I've ordered some CAA from NZ too. Thanks for the link. My younger Rottweiler has cancer and CAA look as though it may help. I had to order the CAA with no iron, due to the cancer. I ordered a week ago but so far no delivery. Arty: A google seach will give you enough info on MSM to keep you busy all night

JackieW
Anti-oxidants are good (vitamins A, C, D, E and selenium). I recently had a hair mineral analysis done on my dog who had insulinoma (specialist thinks the cancer is back though it didn't show up in ultrasound) which showed very high levels of manganese and boron. My naturopath has prescribed supplements to try to bring him back into balance. It takes ages preparing his dinner , but he actually gets 5 meals a day to help keep his glucose stable.
