Dryers

I would like to buy a dryer, for home use, for drying cocker spaniels. I have been using a human hair dryer, but it takes forever. Can anyone suggest what type I should be looking for - not looking to break the bank

Another vote here for the Airmax. It has two motors and sells for around $400 whereas most other twin motor units sell for $700plus

I'll third that suggestion, I love mine. Use it on border collies and a beagle without any problems at all.

Yep. Fourthing it. ;) Finally got sick of taking hours to dry dogs with the 'human' style hairdryers and have had an Airmax from Clipperworld for almost two years now. Usually start baby puppies on the human hairdryer though, so they have a chance to get used to the experience. Hang onto them when you first use the Airmax as they might fly off into orbit (along with all the dust off the shelves, dog hair off the ceiling light fittings and the box of tissues off the table!! )

I have been told to get a Simpson Dryer as it does not spin the hair like some dryers do. Does anyone know where I can get one of these. I am currently using a Liberty Stand dryer and I find it ok but very loud and I always end up with a roaring headache after using it on one dog let alone 4.

I also have the Double K Airmax and find it brilliant for all sorts of dogs. I use both motors to initially dry my GSD and it's fantastic, cuts down the time immensely. If I've got a nervous shih x in I use one motor with the condenser off - takes more time than with the condenser on but dogs seem happier/calmer. Love it

Unfortunately it is quite loud and I'm prone to headaches too. I have the body of the dryer as far away as possible for both the dogs and my comfort, but as I'm doing more grooming as the weeks pass I'm starting to wonder about long term hearing damage so thinking about getting some ear plugs.
