kja
MatildaLily, as sweet as she is, is still a mouthy dog. Dora was a mouthy dog for ages, too, but she eventually gave it up so I have high hopes. Problem is, I can't remember which types of bones we gave her when she was going through that stage and I'm not sure that the current thinking on what is good for dogs is the same five years ago. So, what types of bones are good for chewing on? They are Rhodesian Ridgebacks, if that helps. Til is 8 months and Dora is almost six years. First Time Puppy Owner
Brisket, Lamb flaps, Chicken Frames, Chicken Necks, Turkey Necks, Soap Bones. I always give bones to my GR frozen so that it takes him longer to devour it or swallow chicken necks whole! Hope that helps
persephone
I wouldn't use chicken necks- too small, and too much the right shape to be slurped without chewing and get stuck Lamb flaps/brisket, beef brisket, roo tail!!!!
Melbomb
I second the roo tail! That's one of Bombers favourites. That and Turkey necks. Chicken necks are abit too small for him. He's a gulper.

I've seen dogs get quite shivery after eating a frozen meal, because the meal is sitting in the stomach frozen and can make them quite cold. I only feed chilled/frozen food in summer. Rascal
When we had our Mals, our local Halal butcher used to give us whole cow spines.. they would each get one a month and would drag them all over the yard to opposite corners and chew chew chew. I think he used to sell them but I never paid as I would get all the rest of our meat there. (best tasting meat ever! maybe the prayers do help??) Just the content look on their faces for the week was enough to put a smile on mine :D
