Do you like African names for RRs?

Hi PF and yes I do. There was a list around here, but I can't find it. It gave the english 'meaning' of the names too. Think it might have been in 'general forum'. I'll have another look later.

Also, there's a bit of a theme for names, it seems, on the father's side ..... "Elvis"; "Pink Floyd". So trying to think of a band or singer with a great name that has some 'ring' to it, and that would suit. I don't know. I'm a bit of a blank at the moment, but the usual broken sleep that comes with house training isn't helping.

I think it is time for me to have a cup of coffee .............

But thanks for the 'cheers' and congrats everyone. I have a few photo's of him getting stuck into a chicken frame. Will be 'clicking' here and there throughout the day and will put some more piccies up as soon as I can.

Cosmolo .... even though I appreciate the name suggestion and votes from others, I agree - this isn't going to be a "Roger" dog. A friend of mine from many years back was "Roger" and I'd keep thinking I'd be calling him, not my pup. Besides, him and puppy look nothing alike .

From LBM's bio:

The name LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO came about as a result of winning every singing competition in which the group entered. "Ladysmith" is the hometown of the Shabalala family; "Black" references the black oxen, considered to be the strongest on the farm. The Zulu word "Mambazo" refers to an ax - symbolic of the group's ability to "chop down" the competition. So good were they that after a time they were forbidden to enter the competitions but welcomed, of course, to entertain at them.

If you're going to be training this 200 obedience dog that people wont' enter comps against (that will be in a couple of months wont' it), then axing the competition will become the norm.

ETA. Linky for African Boys Names

Welcome to your new bundle of joy Erny :laugh:

Im sorry, but being a ridgie owner, I find it quite ironic that your introducing your Ridgie in the Traning/Obedience thread............that said, please keep us all up to date with little "Rijstone Ry Cooder"'s progress. (No offence intended of course!!!).

Ahhh, I can see it now, "Gr.Ch. Rijstone Ry Cooder UDX". He certainly is a gorgeous little tyke, more pictures please!

RG

Feel free to PM me training tips for say, recall and heel, and Be Quiet!

  ..... not sure if I understand the reference to "Ry Cooder" .... or whether I should?

Thanks. Have a few piccies. My little man certainly found his voice and I promise you it is a big one. I will get to the piccies as soon as I can. Must admit I've been busy putting into practice all the stuff I have in the past recommended other people to do. Glad I can't be quoted as saying it is easy.

Feel free to PM me training tips for say, recall and heel, and Be Quiet!

:) Thanks RG. I'll bear that in mind. :o

Found another link to RR names (was the one I was thinking of in "general").

RR Names

I'm going through it now to see if there's something there that 'grabs' me.

ETA : ... Wish I could understand all the translations

My sister suggested "Mandela", after Nelson Mandela.

Ooh, gorgeous. Congrats on welcoming Chacha to your home

Going by the link to the list I put up (above) .... I think that's a girl's name? Unless I am mistaken, because the translation is not to english.

But then it's all in a language I don't understand, so maybe I have the 'boys' and 'girls' mixed up???
