Mostly Advance Adult Chicken or Puppy (Large Breed). Very good results in overall health and condition, is always eaten with enthusiasm and small clean-up suggests high digestibility.

Have tried most mid/expensive brands for periods of 6 months or so and cannot justify the prices paid for the results obtained. Have at times consistently used Supercoat, which still remains the second choice as the dogs are perfectly healthy on it. Although more economical and the ingredients list appears comparable to Advance, currently don't like the bigger and more objectionable "poos" which result from feeding it.

BTW I don't think Supercoat is listed on the poll - or was I going blind? :D

Has anyone raised several sound Large/Giant Breed puppies on Orijen? I love the sound of it. I feed mainly raw plus a bit of Eaglepack/Nutrience, I would like to try Raw plus some Orijen (I dont think its in SA yet) but I have a stupid paranoia that if I change foods it will make them unsound (I realise this is dumb! kind of like wearing lucky socks or undies to shows  ). :(

I haven't even heard of a couple of those foods, but anyway, Bonnie working dog for the Staffy as he has loads of allergies and it is the only one he can handle because it is roo and no beef, chicken or lamb. Whippy is on Advance with a little meat and rice, added as well as chicken frames from time to time and piggy ears, and looks fantastic.

Nutrience Derma, as it's the only dry food he can eat without his skin erupting (due to allergies). Apart from that, he gets a raw diet with no grains & very little chicken, as they also cause him to break out.

Have you tried the Holistic?

Just wondering, a while ago i was trying to work out what was the best one - They do good on holistic, so will prob just keep them on that.

Henschke's on Advance, but I'm thinking of changing as he is constantly biting himself. It could be the result of his first wash last week (not sure if we got all the soap out or it could be the shampoo itself). Unfortunately, we bought a large bag - won't do that again! If he keeps biting, I will try him on other foods to see if that's the problem.

How old is your pup? And was the breeder feeding this to the pups? See I would more likely change your shampoo to Aloveen and check you yard of things like wandering jew or other itchy plants before jumping the gun on changing foods!

I am currently feeding Pro Plan Salmon.

i have used Euk in the past with good results.

Also have tried Nutrience (holistic), Science Diet, Advance, Bonnie, Nutro, Dick Van Patten with crappy results.

I would like to try Orijen.

I've heard of Aloveen, but can't remember what.

My pup is 9.5 weeks old and he was being fed Optimun, but the breeder said Advance was better. Could he be allergic to grass as he lies on the grass a lot?

See it could be any number of things - what shampoo did you use? Aloveen is a shampoo for sensitive skin dogs - then if a medicated shampoo is required there are a few the vet can suggest. You can buy Aloveen at the vet or really good pet shops or online, I would go down that avenue first!

Also remember pups have sensitive tummies as well and changing food too quick is not go for them k! Also why was the breeder feeding them Optimum and suggesting you change to Advance??? Sorry that's a little confusing?
