Erny
He also picked on someone choosing to do the right post first in a figure 8, when you are allowed to go around either post first in a trial  I would have thought training should be about the dog being reliable in any situation ..... even if we want to start walking a figure 8 from whatever direction. IMO, trialling should demonstrate a snap shot of ability. Not be exemplary as the whole of the dog's ability. Sadly, I think some attitudes have evolved due to not winning prizes for being better than we have to be. But that's just me .... I guess I have a different agenda for the purpose of training than some others might. I know they are a trialling club, which is what I want, and it is fine if they comment on things that would get you pinged in a trial, but the rest was unnecessary, especially when he starts off with "You have committed a cardinal sin" Sorry ..... but my imagination on this makes me giggle. griff
I'm looking at buying a good quality leather leash for my dog, one that won't snap, either 4ft or 6ft, but not sure which size. Is there any advantage/disadvantage on the length of the leash ? The dog is a Rottweiler, who pulls hard when walking. I would've thought the 4ft would give you more control, but i've been advised to go with the 6ft. Anyone have any thoughts on which would be better. I have 5 , 6, 12 , 30 foot lead here to walk the Rotties ( waiting on a 7 foot lead) all leather leads bar the 30 foot its webbing ( horse lunge lead) I think you could try a obedience lead with a ring on the handle that way you could have it as a 6 foot lead or clip it up to make it shorter if you need to. try K9 force for leads .........I have one ot those also :D

I was advised to go for the 6ft, although i would've thought a shorter leash would give me more control. I don't know.
Just Midol
Rotty, Just an idea... Any chance you can grab two cheap cotton leads (or something cheap) in 4ft and 6ft then decide what you prefer and then grab a leather lead in the length you liked best? griff
RL.. K9's leads are super soft easy to gather up in your hand and do not seem to slip through your hand as others can do.

Any chance you can grab two cheap cotton leads (or something cheap) in 4ft and 6ft then decide what you prefer and then grab a leather lead in the length you liked best? I currently use a 4ft nylon leash, which prob. isn't the best option for my dog, strength wise. I feel that a 6ft leash would give him too much play and the possibility he could lunge towards another dog. However, with the right training a 6ft leash might be better. RL..
