Thanks, er, that was kinda awkward.... :(

Lol

Dont worry I would do the same thing to your Martha! lol

Tayza just had a shower with me coz he was a bit on the nose and now hes running around like a complete mental case! Question - was Martha, or anyone elses lab, mental from day one or nice and quiet like Tayza and just developed the crazy thing. The reason I ask is because Tayza is one of the most placid, chilled out pups I have ever known apart from the odd skitz attack here and there and Im wondering if Im just going to wake up one day to find a crazy puppy?

Also, any more suggestions with the weeing in his bed?

Cheers,

Kristin

Finally figured the photos out!

Enjoy.. more on their way..

Tayza is adorable!!!!!!

He looks just like my 9 week old Geordie (although her eyes look blue in these photos - are they blue?). Here's a photo of her.

Geordie sounds just like Tayza. She's so happy to just follow me around the house and sit and look at me calmly while I make dinner. She'll sleep in her crate for about 50 minutes of every hour and the rest she has a run around and a play. She only seems to go skitz first thing in the morning in the backyard, running around and around non-stop with her ears pushed back (like she's trying to improve wind resistance or something :D ).

Fingers crossed they'll be like this forever!! :p

Lol omg yes i know the look, intimately!!!

Fingers crossed hey - they are just gorgeous at this age sometimes I could create a breed of miniture lab that would stay with that puppy look forever! :-)

Do you have any problems with your crate? Tayza, I have figured out, is territorial and pees in it every time there is new bedding, but not when i leave the same bedding in it... weird huh? does anyone else have this issue?

No his eyes arent blue i think it may have just been the camera...

Have fun with Geordie!

Kristin

We got Martha when she was just six weeks old and she's now about to turn eleven weeks. (Weird. I feel like I've known her forever. It's actually only five weeks.) I can categorically state that she gets more mental every day. I think mentalism is condition that increases with age and, I suspect, with feelings of being pent up — she knows there is a world outside our front door now, but she's not allowed out in it! (Or at least, hardly ever. Puppy school's all right, but I suspect she'd rather be playing with Grown-Up Dogs in the Big Park.)

Tayza may well end up being chilled out compared to Martha (who's not at all "chilled out", although she's quite often "passed out"), but I think he'll definitely get crazier than he is right now.

As I understand it, the really testing times come when their six months old! At least we're going through it together.

Hi there,

My lab Scout is now 18 weeks old, over all she has been pretty chilled out.

At times though she has these moments we call "zoomies" we can be playing or sitting quietly together and all of a sudden she jumps up and takes off and does a lap around the house or back yard and comes right back to where she was. It is so funny when she does it. Her bum scoots under herself, her ears fly back and the whites of her eyes show, I've tried to get photos but she is just to fast. It still cracks me up when she does it.

Kristen_e102 you should join us on the lab thread. Everyone is really friendly and have great advice :o

Here is our girl

I am so glad someone else experiences "zoomies" (great name, Ill start using that one!). I nearly wet myself with laughter every time he does it!

Oh and also yesterday I had tears of laughter - he was sniffing around and came across one of my ankle boots, which he decided to have a sniff inside of. Well, the boot got stuck on his face and he couldnt get it off so was running around in circles with a boot attached to his snout! Funniest thing I have ever seen! ;)

Anyways just to keep on topic - Tayza is still wetting his bed! He went three nights of sleeping right through and now he is back to wetting every night! ;)

Any tips? Or maybe i should just keep letting him do it and hopefully he will grow out of it!

Also, do you guys feed just dry food? Im considering it as I have heard its all he needs but Im worried he will then be hungry...

Cheers,

Kristin

p.s How do I get into the lab pages? ;)

Under the general dog discussion forum part there it says breed sub forum. Click on that and look for the thread "Those crazy Labradors" at the moment its on page 2.

I'm not sure what to do with the crate training, We were lucky Scout had the toileting down pat after two weeks ;)

We had a strict routine, all meals fed at the same time and I took note of the times she peed and pooped, I found they were quite regular. She still does a 9:30pm poo every night. ;)

Thank you. It's Martha in the only bit of the garden she hasn't destroyed. After I took the photo I uploaded it to Flickr.com and edited it in Picnic, which is the editing software that comes with Flick. All free and, if the prints turn out nicely, highly recommended.

P.S. I also love the word "zoomies" and we're using it at home too now!

I fed Martha dry food only for the first couple of weeks, during which time I changed over from Pedigree (which the crappy breeder gave her) to Orijen. Then I couldn't get Orijen, so I got Eagle Pack instead. I didn't feel it had enough meat in it, so I started supplementing by giving her chicken wings about two nights a week. I am also giving her a tin of sardines in spring water for dinner once a week.

Plain raw vegies sometimes get chucked in to the mix.

I use a fifth of her daily kibble allowance for training and also give liver treats, usually at the end of training so she had great memories! I also give her a pig's ear occasionally to shut her up as a special treat.

I plan to go back to the Orijen when I run out of Eagle Pack, but I'll probably continue with fresh meat a couple of nights a week.

A good, complete kibble fed at the correct rate will NOT leave your dog hungry. Remember, they're labs — they always want food! But wanting and needing are different things.

I have just loved reading all this Lab puppy talk. My last dog was a black lab who passed away Aug last year. we had 14 wonderful years with her! BUT for the first 6-7 years she was the busiest, happiest, get into everythingiest dog around. One year she won a trophy at the dog club for "having the wagiest tail" LOL. We kept her i our laundry for the fist 8 weeks or so at night, then she moved into her kennel. The weather was warmer in Nov which made it easier. Like children, one day the wees inside just stoppe.d. And it was fairly quick to happen.

So fingers crossed for you ....
