Annedal
My 10yo Dalmatian male has been rubbing his face on the ground or rubbing it with his leg. Around his eyes the skin is pink. What could it be? What should i do?
Miss BeRidgierent
Awww poor boy. Bathing it wouldn't hurt. Warm salty water. He might of had a allergic reaction to a new plant or something similar (air fresheners, carpet) anything new around the home???? been somewhere where you haven't taken him b4? puggy_puggy
Sounds like an allergic reaction to something. You could try giving him a Claratyne tablet (human antihistamine). If my lot get itchie that's what they get and it works a treat.

Our 13yo lab bitch recently began to exhibit very similar symptoms except that the skin around her eyes started to darken rather than go pink, as if her eyes were weeping. We thought it was an allergy too. In any case, the vet diagnosed it as sarcoptic (fox) mange and we've since had to treat all 6 of our dogs. My advice is keep an eye on it and see your vet if you are unsure. Good luck, w2s Edited July 29, 2008 by woody2shoes

Get it checked by a vet if at all unsure.
~Anne~
I would be checking for demodex. Demodex is more prevalent in the aged and the young when the immune systems are not so strong.
puggy_puggy
Very interesting. Had you been using Revolution or another spot on product that protects against scabies?
