Last weekend she won the overall championship at the Southern Ohio Disc Dog-a-thon by winning 1st place in pro freestyle, 2rd place in pro toss & fetch, 1st place in individual time trials, and 3rd place in extreme distance. So far this year, Mya has qualified to go to the UFO World Cup in Florida and the US Disc Dog Nationals in Georgia, both are in October. Last year she won a world title in freestyle. Enjoy the video! MolassesLass
Good freestyle round. :D Hope MM doesn't mind the minor hijack but you can see the same amazing disc action this Sunday at the Brisbane Canine Disc Championships being held at Kroll Gardens off-leash area in Clontarf. We don't have any BSD competitors as yet though.

OZ Grooming World
Ellie could catch frisby for sure, I have been doing frisby with her for nearly one year, but I do not sure whether its safe for her and also because lack of knowledge about this great sport, so I do not know how to play tricks. Could you tell me, where to start, and what should I do if I'd like to train Ellie to be a agility and frisby dog. Many thanks.............. MolassesLass
It's no more dangerous a sport than any other dogs compete in. That said, like any other sport it does require training to do it correctly. Dogs need to be taught to jump and land safely for your basic frisbee catching. I just couldn't recommend trying the freestyle tricks you see in the video without the guidance of an experienced instructor. Check out the Getting Started page from the first Australian canine disc club for information (in the tips section is a description of the safe jumping training exercise we recommend). And you could also try joining The Australian canine disc yahoo group where you can ask for training help, see here.
