Teebs
Do let the kennels know what has happened since boarding (in the nicest possible way ) I don't think you can really blame the Kennels any more than you can blame a shopping centre for you getting the flu. It's simple maths and KC is really just a puppy cold. They need to know so they can take any possible precautions, but to suggest they are at fault is a bit harsh. I take every possible precaution with my two short of locking them in the house and not letting them go to training/competitions and yet they still ended up with it. i wish everyone was like you!~
FionaC
When I was at the vets on Tuesday night with my cat there was a dog waiting to be seen that the staff had commented on as having Kennel Cough....his owners said that he had been boarded locally for a few days when they had been away the week before - poor boy sounded terrible ...... edited - for clarification cause my brain wasn't working properly the first time Edited July 18, 2008 by FionaC

GreatBigPuppy
I dont think that shmoo meant anything more by his comments than letting the kennel know which I will tell my parents to do.

Staffyluv
I hope all the pups get well soon - it sounds horrible. Touch wood, Ollie has never had it (he has never been boarded either, we get a pet sitter in if we all have to go somewhere)...

Kennels only get because someones pet has brought it in. The worse places for it is offleash parks, beach etc etc. It is airborne so any dog can get at any time

My girl had not been near a Kennel for about 18 months and my boy has never even seen one. Any where that there is high dog traffic is a high risk. The fact that so many people blame Kennels could be more an indication that their dog rarely gets out and about than it is that the kennels are poorly run/unclean. Competition dogs are likely to be as much at risk as dogs in Kennels.
