Luke W
Also someone's already posted somewhere the link to Before You Get Your Puppy, but in case you can't find it, look at www.dogstardaily.com and do invest by buying the second book, After You Get Your Puppy which is available through Jenny Ireland Pet Products. Every single question you've asked and some you haven't yet thought of, are answered there. If your pup is eating carpet, you haven't made her world small enough. When she's unsupervised, she needs a smaller, safer place where she can't destroy things she shouldn't! She doesn't know the difference yet, she's a baby - she's finding out about her world - is this good to eat? When she has access to the house, you have to be vigilant. She also needs lots and lots of Kongs. Ditto what DogSense says. The downloadable book is here: http://www.siriuspup.com/beforebook.html
persephone
she knows she upset me, and was trying to suck up to me for it. No.... she does NOT know that it was her,or her actions which upset you. She is a dog, and a baby one at that... she does NOt think that way ... She does, however feel a bit unsettled/scared by your reactions... hence trying to seek reassurance from you. have a read here.. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=117592 http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=62375 in case you missed them . and here... http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...toilet+training http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...hl=peeing+puppy if you want to see what others do. Flaves
*sigh* she likes to let me down.i know it isn't really her fault but every time i get proud of her, koda likes to let me down. i think yes, she has the hang of needing to go outside and i am sure she does, and then the last few hrs she seems to be ignoring it. we are telling her off, putting her out, and letting her finish her business, praiding her for it, but it just is a pain that the whole day, she tells us when she needs to go out, and then as soon as it gets dark she just stops. she knows she upset me, and was trying to suck up to me for it. had to give in in the end, but its getting to be a pain Grrr i wrote this massive post and lost it. Will try and remember it NO she doesn't;t like to let you down. That is just silly thinking like that She is a BABY!!! A young one, she has a small bladder and has not learned to control it yet. At 9weeks old her bladder in TINY! Would you expect a 9wo human to control themselves? No thought not I took Daire out every 30-60 minutes when he was that age, pretty much did it till he was 4 months old before i extended the time. What signs does your pup show before she toilets? Daire sniffed, circled, and wandered off -i then knew he had to go to the loo and took him out He had 3 accidents in total in the 9mo i have had him, those in the first 2 weeks because we were not watching him close enough So WATCH her more, LOOK for her toileting signs, she has them you just need to recognise them. Have you got a crate? If so use it. Put her in if you cant watch her, then not only will there be less accidents there will also be no more carpet eaten. Pups cannot destroy things if they are occupied and watched As for her being guilty, she is not feeling guilty she is reacting to your body language and demeanor. When she toilets inside and you CATCH her in the act growl and take her outside, if you DON'T catch her, DON'T reprimand her, she will have NO IDEA why you are angry Have you spoken to your breeder for some toileting tips? or for tips to help her feel comfy at home and not cry? Good luck GSDHandler, she will get their eventually, you just need to be patient and consistent
corvus
Maybe you could try the leash with a harness? Kivi Tarro was definitely more comfortable with it when there was nothing pulling on his neck. He has since got used to being handled around the neck area, but we're sticking with the harness.
