Mushrooms - Anyone Gives Them To Your Dog?

I was often asked by raw feeders since dogs can eat veggi then can they eat mushrooms? I google for 10 mins and can't seems to find anything that support this statement? I do know that wild mushrooms is definitely a big NO NO but what about those button mushrooms or the japanese shitaki?

None of my dogs will touch mushrooms, I guess it could be a survival mechanism as so many species of fungi are inedible and some are actually poisonous.

My breeder cooks for her dogs, and I bllieve she gives them mushrooms (button) in the mix.

Would suggest you see if you can find a vet that specialises in animal nutrition and ask them.

There are homeopathic and naturopathic vets around.

Suggest you also ask in the breeders section. A lot of us cook for our dogs.

As Miranda says - some are poisonous, so maybe just don't feed them mushrooms, unless you know categorically.

Hi, For the past 6 years I have fed my 2 terriers button mushrooms in their raw vege patties with no problems at all.

My dogs will eat mushrooms if theres any left over but I have to mix them in with there other food real well or theyll spit them out they dont do them any harm but they dont like them much.

My Labbies will eat Agaricus mushrooms -- but only cooked in lots of butter or in a rich gravy. If they could pick them out and not eat them, they would. I doubt that the mushrooms that are safe for people are poisonous for dogs -- but why bother. Dogs don't like them, and they're too good for dogfood.

My boys wont touch them no matter what I do to make them taste better.

If I feed them as a treat my pugs wont touch them.

I don't bother putting them in the veggie slops I make either.
