Farewell Julie

Yesterday was a very sad day, we had to make the decision to put to sleep our beautiful Himalayan cat, Julie. She was 13 years and 9 months of age. She came to live with us at 10 weeks of age, and my son (who was 8 at the time) decided to called her Julie. More often than not she got “Hooley Dooley”. She was very talkative, always demanding attention. My son would carry her around his neck, like a fur stole.

Julie had a nasty accident at six months old. We came home after being out for around an hour to find her paralysed in the back legs. It appears she was hit by a car. She had a fractured pelvis and spinal damage and we were back and forward to the vets for several weeks having her bladder emptied. She eventually regained some movement in her legs but her beautiful, fluffy tail always dragged behind her due to the damage to her spine.

Julie stopped eating over the last couple of days and had bladder incontinence. The vet said her kidneys were failing, and it may be kinder to let her go.

Rest in peace sweet girl, you will be greatly missed.
