kyliegirl
I am planning very early but in a year I will be buying myself a lovely male doberman puppy whcih I will be training via clicker training and positive reinforcement. While I havent found many puppy schools online I did come across one which did clicker training. http://www.urbandogtraining.com.au My only problem is both areas they train are so far away, and I dont want to do private training as the whole reason I will be taking the puppy to school is to learn good puppy citizenship, good socialization and so it will learn how to act with distractions and how to act around other dogs and people. The free puppy play sessions also sound like a great idea to take my future pup to as it will continue to teach him bite inhibition, self control and keep him stimulated. But again the distance is an issue. Is there any other puppy schools closer to the center of brisbane that do clicker training? WalandLibby
Is there any other puppy schools closer to the center of brisbane that do clicker training? Jenni Rudd runs classes around Nundah/Clayfield. Mobile: 0422 979 401 Email: [email protected] I'm not sure whether she normally uses clicker for baby pups but she definitely does for her adult dog classes. kobblyness
I've used Pine Rivers Dog Obedience club Pine Rivers Dog Obedience Club Training is based on positive reinforcement. Their puppy preschool is excellent. I have heard these clubs are good. Clayfield is close but because I live south it still a bit far too.
kobblyness
Sorry I must have missed that you live on the Southside in your first post I hope you find something suitable. ETA Marchant park is at Chermside which is less than 10km from the city of Brisbane. Edited June 19, 2008 by kobblyness

gsdog2
Tabitha Young has classes at Sumner Park and I think you'll find she uses clicker/whistle training. Wagtails Obedience Training Unit 1 18 Spine St SUMNER, QLD 4074 http://www.wagtails.com.au/flash.html She has a number of venues, this is just one of them. By the way, even though this is not a club there are a number of dogs in the class and therefore the socialisation is still there. Good on you for doing the research before you add to your fur family!
kyliegirl
thanks for the link gsdog, I am really looking forward to getting a dobe pup next year, I have already picked the list of toys and bedding, crating etc. I really want to do the right thing for this pup so both us and the pup benefit from it when hes older. As you've got so much time you might want to visit a few dog/puppy schools so that you can find one that's going to suit your needs. Good luck with the pup, it looks like you're doing all the right preparation.

kyliegirl
I think urban dog training is my best option, has anyone actually been to urban dog training? I would like some feedback about this place.
