Training Friends Morisset Nsw

Is there anyone out there who would be interested in getting together to practice obedience in the Morisset area? What I have in mind is not to learn how to train our dogs but to practice together using whatever method we want and benefit from the distraction of the other dog.

I am finding that training with a club is too limiting in that they won't allow you to use any other method than the one they support and if that doesn't work for your dog, bad luck - your dog learns that whilst at training, you can't control him.

I am very serious about our training as I want to trial my dog, so if there are others out there in my area, on the same wavelength, please let me know.

I'd love to practice with you but I have no obedience experience at all and my dog is only very young still! But like you have trouble with some of the local clubs methodology. I'm in the Lake Macquarie area and depending on time and day happy to come and be a distraction!

Wow, so many Morissetians. That's my home town. The folks are still there. My mother has 2 dogs and gave up on taking them to obedience for the same reasons. No good ones around. She did flyball for a bit, but it went bad as well. Breakdown in group cohesion. Don't know about training, but her dogs would be great distractions! :)

Im keen to get back to some obedience work as well but became so disallusioned with the club I just haven't been back, and the training just hasn't been happening.

Unfortunately I can only train of a weekend as I work fulltime but come daylight savings an evening training session would be an option as well.

Maybe even different venue training occassionally would be a good idea as well.

Let me know if it gets off the ground becasue I am keen.

Hi all,

Thanks for responding to my request. So far we have two things to investigate - one is a Monday evening session at the dog section of Morisset showground - just have to check out the lighting situation, and the other is an off leash park at Rathmines of a Saturday afternoon, and we need to see how busy that gets to know whether it's an option or not for training purposes.

All suggestions are welcome.
