jayakita
Hi, if a dog has a chipped tooth [one of the canine tooth], would it need to be taken out, i believe it was 1/4 chipped and vet said it would be ok, but now it seems [strongly say seem] because i might be seeing things] 1/2 chipped what are suggestions for food, etc is advance dog food still ok to give? Thanks jayakita
dwynwen
my boy had an upper canine removed - didn't affect his eating abilities at all. I'd check with a veterinary dentist as to whether it needs removing.
WreckitWhippet
The best thing to do is have it looked at by a vet, they may grind of any sharp edges. It's a matter of keeping an eye on them and just making sure that it's not painful and not going rotten. The Staffords breaking teeth is very common and we tend to nurse them through as long as we can prior to removing any. It's quite a big thing having a canine out and also once you take them out, the mouth tend to move, as the canines hold the bite together.
Akitaowner
my boy chipped his canines during a brawl when he was young - it will depend on whether the root is exposed, if its not painful it should be fine but as said above - the vet will often file them round
