poodlefan
I strongly recommend you see the chiro vet sooner rather than later. If bones and ligaments are out, swimming won't help them.
Flaves
And make sure it is a chiro VET not just a muscle man. Learn from my experience and go sooner to the chiro rather than see someone else first
ashka1
I would wait untill he is 18 months and as Miranda said , take him to a vet that specialises in HD and Xrays. positioning is so very important to get a true result. Get him swiming as soon as you can to build the muscles. I know of a newfoundland who had hip xrays at 6 months and they looked dreadful. After lots of swimming and a repeat x ray at 2 years, his hips are excellent. This may be the a result of both swimming and growth/maturity but it was interesting to see the xray. If I did not know other wise I would not have said it was the same dog. Good luck. I hope he is fine, he is a real cutie.
GoldiesRgr8Poodles2
Sounds the same as with my boy... I thought his back end wasnt developing muscle properly but if you follow walking and exersize guidlinges as you said you have and i have they wont develo muscle in the back end like others that are over exercised at a young age... I had him castrated at 16months but opted not to x-ray at that time and see how he developes.. My boy wasnt showing signs of pain or distress but found it really hard to get up as a youngster like he had no strength in his back legs.. at nearly 20 months old now with regular walks and hydrotherapy he is fine and the vets dont susspect anyhting is wrong now. just to show you.. at 12 weeks at16weeks at20 weeks (5months) at 6 months at12 months.. i kept him very lean until about 3 weeks ago ive bulked him up now buit he needed the extra weight off to help him move at14 months After castration and hydrotherapy this was taken in april this year at 18 months hope that helps a bit... i wouldnt worry just yet
