kamuzz
Coda and I have been having a little chat while he was lying down, and I happened to rest my hand on his side where I could feel his heartbeat. His heart beat is regularity irregular. It doesn't go thump - thump - thump but more likely thumpity thumpity - thump. In other words it does have a pattern but it is not a uniform beat. Jatz won't sit still long enough for me to find hers. Should I be stressing about Coda?
Miss Monster
Bakari's is sometimes going so fast it scares me - but it isn't a regular like a human heart beat when it's going a normal pace either... Had to check on our other dog when we got her to check that something wasn't wrong with him!
Swizzlestick
It's most likey just sinus arrhythmia. Just means the heartrate increases a little on inhalation. If you have a good check of your own heart, it will probably do the same. The majority of dogs have this. If you are really worried though, have your vet check him. It should have a 2 count beat. Lub dub, lub dub. Edited May 7, 2008 by Sir WJ

Swizzlestick
You are making sense kamuzz Can't really offer any advice here except have him checked if you think he might have issues. Has he had a check up lately? Is he old?
