superminty
I want to enter this one but... ...what do you do when your dog won't let anyone examine him? My boy won't allow any stranger to touch him and he needs to be muzzled at the vets. What does the vet check consist of? Just heart rate check? Would they allow me to put the stethoscope thingy (technical term ) on him myself (with the vet listening at the other end of course)? Can I carry a muzzle with me? The test itself doesn't worry me, that darn vet check does
The Spotted Devil
Hi SM Rules for Endurance tests are on the ANKC website here I suspect that your dog would need to be handled by the vet and the judge: All dogs and bitches are to be examined by the judge and veterinary surgeon prior to the commencement of the test (before the obedience test) and after the completion of each leg and may be excluded from taking part at any stage, if in their opinion, they are considered to be unfit - the decision of the judge and veterinary surgeon is final. Silvawilow
Does anyone know of somebody who may be interested in handling a dog for this?!?!? I'd love for Kiz to do ET, however, I'll be about 5 1/2 + months by then and I'm already running out of puff now
superminty
I suspect that your dog would need to be handled by the vet and the judge: That just won't happen I may have to ring and find out what's involved - if it's just a heart rate check and check of pads he will cope - coz I can handle him myself with someone looking on, but no way will he let a stranger manipulate him in any way even with me holding him. Can anyone who has done an ET confirm what the vet check routine is?
Staff'n'Toller
It's a temperature check as well as pulse and respiration- they need to ensure the temperature stays within normal limits. Mel.
superminty
Will they let me hold the thermometer? Hmm, temp taking may be ok coz I can get his head between my knees and hold him still. Argh, stessed out already!!

kelpiechick
Think the State trial is the week after (29th) so you might be in luck.
J...
You're right I have the VCA trial on the calendar on its original date. If I do ET that weekend, it would mean I have 1 weekend free for the whole of June, and that free one's at risk I think I'll be doing it next year Edited May 11, 2008 by Jess.
