Guest Willow
I recieved this as an email today, and was asked to pass it on!!! On Sunday the 20th April at Sir James Mitchell Park, South Perth, from 10am - 2pm the WA Sleddog Sports Association is holding a display day to showcase what we do. There will be demonstrations of mushing/sleddog racing/dog scootering, backpacking (where dogs carry the packs) and weightpull. There will be plenty of info to take home. More info and a flyer can be found at the web site http://www.wassa.com.au/ Here is a good site to show just how many different breeds can be involved in dog scootering http://www.dogscooter.com/ In the weeks following we will be holding several beginner days where people are invited to come along and have a go with their dog, all the equipment is there to borrow and we will help you and your dog get started in this sport. Our sleddog races are held in July and August - spectators welcome. Our Club welcomes all breeds of dogs and these sports are not just for typical sleddog breeds like Huskies and Malamutes, our club also has a variety of other breeds involved and some will be on display on the day. Often shorter coated dogs do better than our huskies too! The aim of our Club is to have fun with your dog, not everyone is there to compete and many people just enjoy being out with their dogs being involved in a sport that everyone can enjoy. We also encourage families along and hold childrens classes too. We also offer breeders free basic membership packs for their puppy buyers, many new dog owners are looking at what activites they can do with their dog and this is a sport your breed of dog can enjoy.
