4 Paws
just wondering if anyone had tried the Petway Rinse Free Shampoo yet?Much like Fido's free itch rinse in that it doesn't have to be rinsed off but won't kill fleas etc Got a bottle today and it smells sooo nice, waiting for it to stop raining to try it out
Clyde
I've got some here, untouched. I don't see the point of it. Or how it can be called 'shampoo' The dirt will stay on the dog. Let me know what you think.

I'm not sure either why it's called a shampoo instead of a a rinse.I guess really its the same as using the Fido's free itch rinse or the Fido's herbal rinse as those ones don't get rinsed either Will be ok for a dog thats not really dirty, just needs a freshen up but it does give you the option of rinsing as well so ok for dirty dogs as well in that case Will let you know how it goes. Miranda
I would never leave shampoo on a dog under any circumstances. A rinse or conditioner designed to be left on a dog after shampooing and rinsing is a different matter, but I can't see the point of a rinse free shampoo and would wonder about the effects on a dog's skin and coat if it was used on a regular basis. Nice smelling dog shampoos and conditioners are designed to attract the owner, a pleasant smell is certainly no guarantee of a good product. Well said Ok..now I've read this. http://www.petshampoos.com.au/About_our_Products.ews .it appears they do not use 'soap'..just lots of oils and things... maybe that makes a difference Edited April 9, 2008 by persephone
4 Paws
Does say on the bottle -Formulated with cleansing extracts from renewable vegetable crop plants with excellent skin compatibility. No Sulphate Detergents It certainly is runnier than a shampoo, but not as runny as the Fido's rinses would be interesting to know if people using the Fido's rinses longterm ever have any problems.I know a lot of people with single tank hydrobaths tend to use the rinses Edited April 9, 2008 by 4 Paws

Miranda
Oh ok. Their other products look all right, but I really don't understand why they'd produce a rinse free shampoo although I suppose it would reduce water usage and would be a godsend to people in drought areas. I still think you'd get some form of build up in the coat if you used it regularly. I don't use Fido's products so can't help you there.

I have been using Petway products for some time as I used to operate a dog wash business and have found all the products to be excellent. They also have a Cotex product which is designed to be left on as well Product is actually called Water Saver Rinse Free Shampoo
Clyde
I got mine as a freebie sample. I started using their product for some dogs a while back from a referral on here (it may have been you 4 Paws) as I needed to use a more economical product than Dermcare. I've used FIDOS before and thought it was a terrible product..... it also gave me eczema.

JulesP
Sounds more like it is a low suds type shampoo, designed to go in a hydrobath?? I've used the Eco 2000 shampoo a bit, that is quite nice once you get used to the lack of suds.
Clyde
What lines of there's have you used and what did you think of them? I've tried three different shampoos (Herbal, pink and a purple one). All good cleansers but the pink one I found to be a great whitener. I still use Aloveen on sensitive skin and the Aloveen conditioner too. I dont like the smell of the shampoo (especially the pink) but the clients like it as it's strong. Same with the deoderisors. They're not my cup of tea but the clients LOVE them and the smell really does last - I hardly need any and clients say the dogs are still smelling nice a week later. I probably like the blue deoderisor best. I was using Dermcare Natural, but it isn't very good at getting grubby marks out and the dogs smell doggy quite quickly after too. However it was kinder on my skin.... Petway gives me a slight irritation between the fingers, but nothing compared to what some products have done. So thanks for the heads up on them, they have great, speedy service too
