Have you contacted the breeder & exolained what the vet has said??

If your breeder uses agood vet i would very surprised they have missed it but now plenty of vets who diagnise murmours when they dont have them.

Speak with the breeder & then go to the vet for another follow up & they should be explaining the grade etc etc or atleast suggest a heart specialist whoi can certify it

Know how you are feeling. Our 12 wk old pup was diagnosed with a heart murmur at 8 weeks by our vet - but the breeder's vet did not pick it up. When he had his 12 week old shots they said it seems to sound a bit better. Will know more Wednesday as he has an appointment with the specialist. From our research and what the vet told us it can be an "innocent puppy murmur" which will close over by itself or "something more sinister" which may require management. Hoping for the innocent murmur.

Best of Luck

Good news! Kaylee’s has come good! Our vet wants to check again in a few weeks but I think we're in the clear

Apparently puppy heart murmurs usually disappear around 12 weeks. Thank god she was one of the lucky ones =)

I hope you are as lucky with Pixie as we were

I'd also recommend asking what grade the murmur is. A grade 1 or 2 is not that serious but a grade 4 might require surgery going by the articles I've found on the net.

My Mac has a heart murmur at the higher end of the scale. When you put your hand to his chest, you can feel the unusual beat. He's 6 (diagnosed at 12 weeks? and no change at 16 weeks) and doesn't show any obvious signs of his murmur. He doesn't seem to cope very well in hot weather, but I wouldn't expect any dog to really 'thrive' in hot weather.

I wouldn't be worried, but definitely contact the breeder so they know. My vet recommended we keep Mac 'quiet', but we just let him do what he likes. I rather him have a few happy lunatic years rather than many rather boring years. However, he regulates himself pretty well.

Hope it shows clear for your dog again in the next few weeks.
