Mystiqview
Found this link on another list. I always had to wonder about Garlic due to its relation to the onion family and know problems/issues with onions and dogs. FYI: Pets By Nature - Garlic
Poppy's mum
I am not surprised. I tried adding a non-smelling garlic capsule to food once and my dog at the time promptly threw it up, consistent with the article. I have never tried since, although I know Nature's Gift dog food contains garlic and I have had no obvious adverse effects from that.
kermat
Interesting article - I've been mixing garlic in with my boys rice and I've never noticed any ill effects. We used to feed it to my old cocker spaniel to improve her breath - garlic to improve breath?? But it worked!! I guess the main point from the article was that the amount of garlic needed to be toxic is unknown, so maybe in small reasonable quantities mixed in with other food its ok. sas
Just love the whole scare dog owners without any actual facts. Have fed our dogs a diet with Garlic in it for nearly 30 years, never lost any of our dogs young, never had any scary health problems.
