redz
Would some kind person tell me what is the correct show clip for a baby puppy. (poodle) Also at what age do they graduate to a junior lion clip. I am an absolute novice when it comes to the show ring!!!
BC
I would recommend you speak to your breeder about this as they should be guiding you through the entire showing process
Clyde
*should* being the operative word. Would it be so hard for someone in the know to answer the OP? It's nice for owners to work some things out for themselves and not fell like they are hassling the breeder every two seconds. :D Good luck showing!! Baby Poodles are so darn adorable

Baby Poodles are so darn adorable :D No, it's not so hard, but I would think the OP could get conflicting advice so would suggest the breeder the best contact with OP being a complete novice. Advise can be taken or not taken so no skin off my nose if any advise I give is ignored IMO I would rather ask my breeder a million questions than get it wrong. poodlefan
Yep, the very originally named "puppy clip". See below. No top knot band on the absolute babies but you put it up as soon as it wont' stay out of their eyes. Hair length will dictate when you go into junior lion. I can't remember when Darce went it but I think it was about 10 months? Hopefully a more experienced showie will tell you. Paptacular!
Poodlefan, Photobucket won't show the photo! Good luck with your poodle redz! If I had the patience and steady-handedness for clipping, I would probably consider a mini poodle.
Dogsfevr
Google Poodles in asutralia. It s an aussie website for all poodle lovers & showies. It also has a page about trims & colours with photos that will show you exactly what is what. I agree though contact your breeder .If they sold it as a show potentail pup they should be assisting you as much as possible. If they are showies themselves they would have plenty of grooming charts etc to send you. Otherwise ask some breeders about good poodle groomers who can do show trims to get your pups outline started,it wont be cheap but well worth the expense
Sivvy
Tis ok guys, she pm'd me. I prefer the junior lion trim on all my babies right from start. Most will do the puppy trim, but there us who like the junior lion. It depends on the size of the breed also Minis and toys look great in Junior. Actually we do put in bands at 3 mths old. I think its only the standards that dont at that age as minis and toys hair is longer. myValkyrie
I can just imagine - I'm not sure if it's the way she's looking full on at the camera or what but the look says to me "yep that's right I am gorgeous - deal with it". Such carriage & arrogance for a baby - bet you had fun in the ring with her
BOSSFACE
I know absolutely zip about poodles but the black girl is lovely.
Sivvy
Thanks guys, she is beautiful and an adult now. She is fantastic in the ring but the little bugger has ripped her topknot out since coming into season ages ago and its hard trying to grow it back. When its grown a little more I can finish her title. Only 23 more points to go
