Oldfields Or Liberty Dryer

I need help deciding!

I like that with the Oldfield I can have it done in my colour choice - but I didn't even realise they did stand dryers so I worry they aren't that great???

I have their force dryer and it's fantastic!!!

Liberty has the fab rep. and I used them in a salon previously, but I prefer the look of the Oldfield *rolls eyes at myself*

The Oldfield is a little dearer ($100 or so) and then I suppose colour choice might be more too.

Anyone have experience with either of these in stand dryers?

Everything and anything (canine, that is) But I would say largely swf's, oodles and poodles. I'm looking at the regular stand dryer not any of the cage dryers (mk 2 or3).

For a fluff dry finish... straightening etc. Brushing out under the dryer, rather than just drying IYKWIM.

I have both

2 liberty & 1 oldfield & the oldfield sits in the corner not being used.

Great dryer but it weekly would melt the hose & fling the nozzles off & i couldnt stand it any longer so now it doesnt get used except for cage drying

Thanks for the heads up on the BEacon, it's only marginally more than the Oldfields so will now be leaning towards that as it's reputed to be very good and quiet.

Settrlvr - with the Oldfields I wont be using the hose attachment - so then do you still think it's not so great?

(BTW - the hose did used to fly off for me too, but after a bit of cutting and fiddling it hasn't done it for years. I do also check to see it's screwed in tight every month or so too.

There are two types of dryers; forced air and they use brush type motors and fluff dyers that can be brushless. The brushless motor type such as the Beacon or the Double K 9000 are quiet but will not blast the water of the coat. They rely on volumes of low pressure air. The Oldfield is a brush type motor and hence has the forced air capacity, but it is noisy similar to Liberty. You need to decide on what task you want from the dryer and then research the quality and price options. There are many dryers out there that are overpriced and in the end there is very little difference between them.

We managed to secure the Oldfield but it was more hassle than i needed & the hose melting was a pain. When i did up my first dog with it i went from a normal hose to a pigmy size.

We have used the Liberty for well over 15 years .We also had a simpson supajet that was fine but expensive to repair.

I havent used the double K but we do swear by there clippers(have 2 sets).

We also have the oldfield cyclinder dryer which is great for GSD.labs, clip offs etc etc & great for getting the water off on a cold winter day on the right coat.

For my showdogs i prefer less power as i find to harsh dries the coat
