poodlefan
Why don't you read some of the raw feeding threads - diets that follow the 'no processed food theme' are popular with quite a few members here, including me. If you fed a pup on only kanga meat and carrots, I think you'd be seeing rickets. The chicken necks would be essential but I'd want more foods in it than that. puggy_puggy
I to would be feeding a bit more then just kangaroo and carrots. That is not a balanced diet but it's a start. Have a read about BARF diets and RAW diets.

Aly
What do you currently feed? She is on eukanuba sensitive skin biscuits. Aly also likes beef hocks. But I find they constipate her

My boy is 2.5 years old and has subsisted on a diet of kangaroo, carrott, zucchini ONLY for the last 18 months. He is on a severly restricted diet due to food intolerances and inflammatory bowel disease. He is in fantastic condition which only continues to improve. Guest Tess32
I'd prefer more variety than just one red meat.

The only supplement he gets is a 1/4 tsp daily of Flexicose which is a liquid glucosamine. No his dietary issues began at age 11 months when I was feeding him barf. Spent a few months trialling different elimination diets (which made him worse) then moved onto the kangaroo diet. Within 5 days he was better than he had been in months. He can't have chicken, turkey, beef, veal, pork or lamb. Dogsfevr
Roo meat is great but it sent my white dog orange. We use it for the other dogs & all is great with it. Why not just add some roo meant with the dry at present so your dog can get it in small doses to ensure it agrees with him

shmoo
Roo meat is far too rich to be giving as the main meat. Do a BARF search on the forum or even google. tons of info out there about raw feeding.

Can I just add that this may be the case in YOUR dog who needs to be on the diet for medical reasons - but it's not a diet that one would want to be recommending to all and sundry. Run a search on the BARF or prey model diets, Aly, as others have suggested My dogs also love Kangaroo, but they get it along with beef, lamb, turkey, duck, chicken, fish etc... puggy_puggy
Roo meat is far too rich to be giving as the main meat. Do you mean as the only meat in the diet? I give it once a week with the veggie slops and the pugs love it and have no problems with it.
jamie
A mate of mine feeds his dogs basically nothing except meaty lamb bones and offal. He's been feeding dogs this way for about 50 years and he reckons his dogs thrive on it.He's a butcher so he picks out nice lean cuts for his dogs.He told me they live long, healthy lives and he rarely has the need for vet visits. Personally I couldn't do it unless it was absolutely necessary, half the fun for me is hunting out a nice variety of raw meaty bones.
stormie
I know someone who raised their newfs on a diet of just meat, and from memory i'm sure it was roo meat. The dogs got a meaty bone here and there, but basically, they just got meat. The dogs never had any growth issues or health problems and lived into their teens. Not saying that this is a great diet, but dogs are scavengers and can survive on some pretty strange diets and actually do quite well.
